The Journey: From Academy to Atelier
Bob's path to becoming an independent designer began during his time at the art academy in Arnhem, where he already started working at Piet Hein Eek's studio. This collaboration would span five years, providing invaluable experience in craftsmanship and design thinking.
It was at Piet Hein Eek's studio that Bob met Stefan Scholten, and together they formed Copray and Scholten. In 1997, Bob took the step to continue solo under his own name, Bob Copray, marking the beginning of his independent design journey.
From Vision to Reality
Bob's approach to design is refreshingly straightforward: create pieces that are both functional and extraordinary. Whether it's transforming a salvaged farmhouse beam into a statement bench or combining a chair with integrated lighting, each design starts with a simple question - "What if?"
"I don't design furniture to fill a room," Bob explains. "I design pieces that become part of your life - chairs you want to sit in for hours and tables that gather people together".
